NIFT Eligibility Criteria in various Courses

Qualifications to apply for admission to the above graduation courses in NIFT Institutes:

Age Limit :

  • Candidates applying for admission in B.Des and B.F.T graduation courses should have maximum age of 24 years.
  • Relaxation in upper age limit is given to reserved categories as per rules.

Educational Qualification for NIFT Entrance Test :

For B. Des (Bachelor of Design) course:

  • 12th Passed in any discipline from any recognized board in India.
  • Any 3 or 4 year Diploma recognized by AICTE or any State Board of Technical Education in India; or
  • Equivalent.

For B.F.T. (Bachelor of Fashion Technology) course

  • 12th passed from any recognized Board of India including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
  • Any 3 or 4 year Engineering Diploma recognized by AICTE or any State Board of Technical Education in India.
  • Equivalent.

For M.Des (Master of Design) course:

  • Graduation (Bachelor's) degree in any discipline from any recognized Board of India; either
  • 3 years Graduation Diploma from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or National Institute of Design (NID).

For M.F.M. (Master of Fashion Management) course:

  • Graduation (Bachelor's) degree in any discipline from any recognized Board of India; either
  • 3 years Graduation Diploma from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or National Institute of Design (NID).

For M.F.T. For (Master of Fashion Technology) course:

  • NIFT to B.F.T. degree; OR
  • Engineering Degree from any Recognized University in India.

NIFT Admission Process for various courses

For B.Des course:

  • To get admission in the said graduation course, candidates have to pass entrance exams called General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT).
  • Candidates who qualify both the above entrance exams are called for Situation Test.

For B.F.T. Course:

  • B.F.T. For admission to the course, candidates have to qualify General Ability Test (GAT) only.
  • Candidates do not have to give Creative Ability Test (CAT) to get admission in this course.

For M.Des course:

  • To get admission in this course, candidates have to pass entrance exams called General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT).
  • Candidates who qualify both the above entrance examinations are called for Group Discussion and Interview.

For M.F.T. and M.F.M. For courses:

  • For admission in both the above courses, candidates have to qualify General Ability Test (GAT) only.
  • Candidates qualified in GAT exam are called for further interview.
