Answer: A type of computer which has one microprocessor as its processing unit is called microcomputer. It is a small and less expensive digital computer. Such type of computers are made to be used by a single user at a time. It is also called a Personal Computer or PC. Some examples of microcomputers are Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, etc.

The result of produced by digital computer is more accurate than that of Analog computer. All the modern digital computers that we use in our day to day life are Desktop, Laptop, Smartphone, etc.
d. Define the following terms.
(i) Microwave
Answer: Microwave is a type of embedded computer that allows us to warm and cook food. It contains a computer system embedded inside to contro9l the time and temperature.
(ii) ATM
Answer: ATM or Automated Teller Machine is a type of an embedded computer. It allows us to withdraw money from out bank account anywhere and anytime. Such machine is connected with the bank's server. When we withdraw some money from ATM, an equal amount is debited from our bank account.
(iii) PDA
Answer: PDA or Personal Digital Assistant is a handheld computer that has a touchscreen and allows to organize our daily routine works like schedules, calendars and address book information. It also has a pen like stylus which allows us to type or feed input. It can also accepts handwritten input directly from the touchscreen.
(iv) Gaming Console
Answer: Gaming console is a type of handheld computing device specially designed to play video games. We can connect the gaming console with television to play games on television. Some commonly used examples of the gaming consoles are Sony Paly-station, Nintendo Game Cube, and Nintendo Wii.
(v) Desktop Computer
Answer: Desktop is also called PC. Desktop is a personal computer placed at a single place on a desk or table. All components of desktop computer such as keyboard, mouse and storage devices are connected through wire or wireless. Due to its size and power requirements, we cannot carry this type of computers. Desktop computers are generally used in schools, colleges, offices, etc.
e. Distinguish between:
(i) Supercomputer and Minicomputer
Answer: Supercomputers are the largest and fastest of all types of computers that can process very large amount of data quickly while Minicomputers are small and general purposes computers having the capability to serve a number of users simultaneously.
(ii) Laptop computer and Tablet computer
Answer: Laptop is a portable and small personal computer that is suitable for use while travelling. We can use a laptop computer by keeping it on our lap. A laptop computer has built in mouse, a monitor and a keyboard. It also has a rechargeable battery. While Tablet is a portable computer smaller than the laptop computer. It has a touchscreen as its primary input device instead of mouse. A tablet computer also has a rechargeable battery. A tablet computer generally provides less features than a laptop computer. Tablet computers are commonly used by professionals in various organizations.
